Q: What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?
That's an easy one. I have and always will prefer paperback. They're lighter than hardcover, which makes them easy to carry. I cannot read online or on a kindle. I love the fact that with a book, I can have something physical to hold, as opposed to an ebook or kindle. Of course, I simply must have a paperback when I read a novel for english excuse me, English (never know what English teacher might be reading this!) class. It makes it easier for me to annotate/highlight. I've tried highlighting/annotating with an ebook on an Ipad, and it was not successful...not in the least!
This month, I am participating in The Armchair Squid's monthly bloghop- the Cephalopod Coffeehouse. This is a new blog hop for me! Each month, members post about their favorite book they read during that month. My favorite book of the month is................ *drumroll*
This is the story of a girl, around age 17ish, who is so overweight that she decides to undergo gastric bypass surgery. She chronicles her recovery, and also takes us inside her mind and introduces us to 'skinny', a voice in her head that represents bad body image. This was incredibly pertinent to our society!!
Although I've grown to love ebooks just as much, I agree, paperbacks are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI bought a Kindle recently, but almost entirely just so I could read the free ebooks I'd already collected. It was too hard trying to read them via Cloud kindle or in PDF form. Yech. So I've been reading a lot on my Kindle, but like you I still prefer a "real" book! ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope the book-buying public never completely tires of the feel of real paper, whether it be hard cover or paperback.
ReplyDeleteMorgan, thanks so much for participating. Your book sounds like quite an intimate personal journey.
Can't highlight with an ebook either (we need help, lol) Hopefully someone will do a vlog or something. old follower. Here is my FF
ReplyDeleteI've never really wanted to highlight my books when I read them. Except of course when i was in English classes in high school or college. Now I just enjoy reading the book and if I want to remember a specific quote or idea, I just write it down.

I have no idea how to highlight in an ebook, but I have come to enjoy my kindle a lot more than I ever thought I would. Still love my paperbacks though.
ReplyDeleteI have a Kindle Fire and all I have to do is long press a word until it highlights and then press all the words you want highlighted. Easy and definitely useful!!
DeleteI prefer hardcovers because I get so annoyed when a paperback comes in the mail dented. Even the smallest dent bothers me so much and I love how hardcovers are harder to damage. Old follower :)

I must say that I'm almost completely converted to e-books. I just prefer not having to wait for delivery. Still, nothing beats the scent of a paper book.
ReplyDeleteYou are my kind of reader! :)
