Feature and Follow Friday!

Question of the Week: If you could write a book what would it be about?

I'm actually working on a book right now about my experience with cancer. It's a memoir, and I'm not sure if it counts as 'writing' when I haven't really had time to do anything with it in the last year or so.

Would anyone want to help me move forward with this? It's my dream to get published, and I'd need someone that likes YA writing, since that's my audience.

Question of the Week: What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

I really love Peanut Butter ice cream. Even better if it has those little mini peanut butter cups in it!

Lately I've been gravitating more towards frozen yogurt. There's this place called Forever Yogurt (not sure if it's only a Chicago thing?) that has really good fro-yo and toppings! My favorite flavor there is Key Lime Pie.

Feature and Follow Friday!! (A day early)

What are your favorite books that have been made into a movie?

I have several answers for this question.

1. The Fault in Our Stars was a great movie and an even better book! I love the soundtrack, and the acting was amazing. I love how the movie stayed so true to the book!

2. My Sister's Keeper- Jodi Piccoult: This was a good movie and a really great book, but one thing really irked me: The movie directors completely changed the plot and made it WAY too predictable!! In the book, the ending is completely unexpected, which is a big reason why I love this book. But in the movie, the ending is exactly what I was expecting. They didn't stay true to the book at all! I'd give it a 4 stars out of 5 rating.

3. The first book in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series: great book and good movie! I especially liked the soundtrack. The movie wasn't as dramatic as the book, but then again, the book had a lot more room than the movie did...

The List Blogfest

Today I'm participating in Alex. J Cavanaugh's blogfest about Lists. After much consideration, I've decided to make a list of all my unanswered questions in life. Some of them are very silly, and some more serious. If anyone has the answers to any of these questions, please leave me a note in the comment box!

1. What is the meaning of life?
2. What happens when we die?
3. In The Little Mermaid, why couldn't Ariel have just written Eric a note about the whole Ursula thing? She obviously knows how to write since she signed Ursula's scroll!
4. Why was Snow White so naieve? Why were the animals smarter than she was in terms of not wanting to let the Queen/Witch inside?
5. In Beauty and the Beast, where are the Beast's parents at the beginning of the movie? He's only 11 years old at the start of it!
6. How was Chip the teacup conceived? If the curse started ten years ago and Chip is only around 5 in the movie, how on earth was he conceived if Mrs. Potts is stuck in the castle?
7. What happened to the Seven Dwarves after Snow White went to live with the Prince? Did they ever see each other again? And what happened to the magic mirror?
8. Why doesn't Squidward in "Spongebob" wear pants?
9. If Spongebob lives in a pineapple, how does his house have corners?
10. Why does Gary the Snail meow? That doesn't make any sense!
11. If the city of Bikini Bottom is under water, why do people have to take baths? How do electronics work underwater?
12. How is Pearl, Mr. Krabs' daughter, a whale if her dad is a Krab? Who was her mother, and why doesn't she look anything remotely like a crab?

Question of the Week: Name a book you hated

The summer before freshman year of high school, I had to read The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. WORST. BOOK. EVER! It was just a bunch of little stories that didn't make any sense, by themselves or when tied together!

Feature and Follow Friday!

Undiscovered talent - tell us about a book you loved but no one else seems to have heard of. It can be new or old, any genre. Let's spread the love.

Oddly enough, lots of people have never heard of my favorite book, Tuesdays with Morrie. Most of you guys probably know the story, but for those that don't, it's about a guy named Mitch Albom (the author) who discovers his old college professor, Morrie, is dying. Morrie has ALS, and the book chronicles Mitch's weekly visits to Morrie's house, as well as Morrie's decline.

Feature and Follow Friday!

Question of the Week: Name a movie you would have loved to read as a book ( That is not a book already obviously)

I had to think a little bit when I read this question. Being the huge Disney nerd that I am, I'm going to have to choose "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". I'd have loved to read about each dwarf's characteristics and how they interact with one another. I feel like it's all jumbled up in the movie, but in a book you could really see the dwarves as individuals. And I suppose that the evil queen would be described very vividly, and have chapters dedicated to her.

Question of the Week: If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would you pick? Fictional ones count too! - Suggested by

I would pick the cute little mice in Cinderella. They're so cute, and they're very smart, too. They know how to make a dress, and how to steal a key from Lady Tramaine's pocket! I love Suzy, Jaq, and Gus-Gus.

Question of the Week: If you can step into one characters shoes (in a book) and be them for a day who would it be and why? Also if you want to be creative, what scene?

I'd love to become Willy Wonka from Dahl's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I'd love to see his factory and meet all the oompa loompas.

IWSG: Hit the ground running

This summer, one of my goals is to finally write that book that I've been meaning to. As a college student, this year I found myself saying, " Oh, I'll get to it later". Well later never came. This mentality went on for a few months. Suddenly it was May, and I found myself with only a few pages written. So this summer, my goal is to write as much as I possibly can (and revise!). I am looking for a CP who has some experience in writing memoirs.

Z is for Zazu.

Zazu is that annoying little bird from The Lion King. He's a good guard bird, but he talks too much.

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

X is for....

Actually, I couldn't come up with anything for X or Y. See you on Thursday for Z!

Monday, April 27, 2015

W is for Grandmother Willow.

I love Grandmother Willow. She's so wise and gives such great advice. Bonus: She's a talking tree! How much better can you get than that?

Saturday, April 25, 2015

V is for vultures.

These vultures from "Snow White" are incredibly creepy. They are seen near the end of the movie.

Friday, April 24, 2015

U is for Ursula

Continuing on with the Little Mermaid track from yesterday, Ursula is the perfect disney villain. She's got some really creepy sidekicks, too- Flotsam and Jetsam. In my opinion, the best part of Ursula is her crystal ball that she uses to see the outside world. I wish I had one of those!

Thursday, April 23, 2015

T is for Triton.

Triton is awesome. He's a really good father, and he's a MERMAN! He also has some amazing powers with that awesome trident of his. The only bad aspect of Triton is his temper. He destroys Ariel's grotto almost immediately when he finds out she rescued Eric.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

S is for Sleepy and Snow White.

S is for Sleepy. Sleepy reminds me of myself because I love to sleep! I'm a college student, and sleep is a luxury for me. I love taking naps, and can sleep up to 3 or 4 hours at a time during one. I couldn't find a clip os Sleepy, as they are all copyrighted by Disney.

S is for Snow White. Snow White is one of the youngest Disney Princesses- 14 years old. She is a great character in that she's super cute and caring, but she's also extremely gullible. Personally, if an old hag were to offer me an apple, I'd think she were crazy. The animals give the Princess an obvious hint when they knock the apple out of the Queen's hands, but she is too naieve to take a hint!

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

R is for Roger.

Roger from 101 Dalmations is often over looked. He's loyal to his family and is very good at standing up to Cruella. Here's a clip of him:

Monday, April 20, 2015

Q is for the Evil Queen.

It wouldn't be right to NOT include this villain. She's always scared me, and I'm still afraid of her today! I am convinced that this lady is completely psychologically unstable. I'm in college and minoring in Psychology, so I tend to unconsciously analyze people. Anyway, she's unstable because she wants to be the fairest of them all, yet turns herself into an ugly old hag! She also has no mercy for anyone but herself, and she will do anything to be prettier than anyone else. Let me also say that this lady freaks me out as the old hag. She has a scary laugh, and she always makes exaggerated facial expressions.

Here's a clip of her as the queen:

And here's the clip of her as the old hag. You'll understand what I mean about the facial expressions:

P is for Poor Unfortunate Souls and Pat Carroll!

P is for Poor Unfortunate Souls. This is my favorite Disney villain song. Ursula seems like she's caring in the beginning of it, but then it takes a dark turn in the middle. By the end, Ursula's wickedness is quite obvious.

P is also for Pat Carroll, who voiced Ursula. She's 87, but she's stil hilarious!! Fun fact: Pat and I share a birthday- May 5th! Obviously different years. I'm not that old. ;)

Thursday, April 16, 2015

O is for Octavius.

Gus's real name is Octavius. He's that fat little mouse from Cinderella. He's adorable, but a bit naieve. Jaq always has to protect him from Lucifer.

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

N is for Nanny.

Nanny's a character in 101 Dalmations. You'll be seeing more characters from that movie in the coming days. Nanny is a cute old lady, but she's also important in protecting the dalmations from Cruella, Horace, and Jasper. She's good at standing up to Cruella and her sidekicks.

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

M is for Maleficient, Mickey, and Morgan!!

M is for Maleficient. She's got to be my favorite disney villain. She has anger management issues for sure, but that only contributes to her awesomeness! She's also a badass because she has a way of faking emotions and then suddenly getting revenge on her enemies. In the scene where she finds out she's not wanted, she says "What an awkward situation". She pretends to be offended, and suddenly gets revenge by placing the infamous curse upon Aurora. And those horns- wicked awesome!!

Maleficient represents pure evil. She's the self-proclaimed "Mistress of all evil" and is known to smile and cackle when her enemies are in pain.  Her smile is very devious, which implies that she takes pleasure in knowing that she causes pain.

                                    M is for Mickey.

Mickey's the mouse that started it all. I've always loved him, and this January I had the privilege of meeting talking Mickey at Disney's Magic Kingdom! It was amazing, and I even have a photo below. He was adorable, and he gives great hugs!

M is for Morgan (that's me!). I wanted to use this opportunity to tell you a little more about myself. I'm 18, and will be 19 on May 5th! I am currently a freshman at Loyola Chicago studying social work. In my spare time (what spare time?!), I enjoy reading, sleeping, and cooking. I've never been able to choose a favorite Disney movie because I love them all! But I do have a lot of favorite Disney characters, all of whom are mentioned in this challenge.

Monday, April 13, 2015

L is for Lumiere.

This is by far my absolute favorite character (besides Chip!) in Beauty and the Beast. I love his accent. He's also really romantic, and he has a romantic relationship going on with the mop. I don't know her name. Lumiere also is in love with Belle at the beginnin of the movie. When she walks in, she kisses Belle's hands for about 5 minutes, until Clocksworth tells him to stop I enjoyed his performance in 'Be Our Guest'! Oh, if all candles could talk...

Here's a picture of me holding a Lumiere candle. We didn't buy it because it was $40, but I thought this picture was adorable!

Enjoy this clip of Lumiere:

K is for Kings.

I had a hard time coming up with a character for K. There aren't a ton for this letter, so I thought it'd be kind of cool to just blog about some of the classic Disney Kings. I've included video clips of my favorite kings below. Tomorrow's post is one about one of my favorite Disney characters that just happens to be non-human! You'll have to check back tomorrow and see!

Friday, April 10, 2015

J is for Jaq.

Jaq is the cute little mouse from Cinderella. He's best friend with Gus and always says "Zuk Zuk, Cinderelly. Zuk Zuk". He wears a red jacket and hat.

Here's a clip of THE best scene of the movie! Jaq happens to have a big part here.

Thursday, April 9, 2015

I is for....

This scene is from Sleeping Beauty where Maleficent is yelling at her goons for not finding Aurora.

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

H is for Happy.

Happy is the polar opposite of Grumpy, but oddly enough, they never quarrel at all in Snow White! Happy's friends with Dopey, and the two engage in antics together. But Happy sort of keeps Dopey in check. There's that one scene where Dopey is looking under Happy's beard to see if the Queen was hiding under there, and Happy bashed him over the head as if to say, "What are you doing?!"

Happy also gives a really cute performance in "The Silly Song"!

This is the clip where Snow White meets the dwarfs and Happy hits Dopey upside the head.

And here is "The Silly Song" and Happy's performance!

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

G is for Grumpy.

G is for Grumpy from Snow White. It's really cool to see how the friendship between Grumpy and Snow White develops over the course of the movie. At the beginning, Grumpy doesn't have anything to do with Snow White. However, at the end, he actually SMILES at her when they're saying goodbye to each other! In this clip, you can see exactly what I mean.

Monday, April 6, 2015

F is for Flora and Fauna.

I like these two good fairies in Sleeping Beauty. They're two old ladies, but they're really adorable and good-hearted. Flora is a little bossy, but I like her anyway. And, for the record, the dress should be pink!  The following clip is my favorite scene in this movie:

Sunday, April 5, 2015

E is for Eric

I love Eric. He's incredibly handsome, and he is my favorite Disney Prince! I love the scene where Eric, Ariel, and Grimsby are eating dinner, and Ariel starts brushing her hair with the fork! I have a picture of myself with a dinglehopper hairbrush (below).

Here's a scene of Eric and Ariel:

D is for Dopey and Dory (and a special guest!)

Wow, we have 2 characters and a special guest today! The special guest is revealed at the bottom of this post, but I highly  encourage you to read all the way through to the end. You won't get the connection otherwise!

D is for Dopey.

Dopey has to be my all time favorite Disney Character.  He's so cute and funny and I just love him so much! I've always wondered how old he is, though, because he's the only dwarf without a beard! Dopey seems to be younger than all the other dwarfs because he acts more like a young person than an adult, like all the other dwarfs do.

Here's a good clip of Dopey.

D is for Dory!

Dory from 'Finding Nemo' is an interesting fish. She has short-term memory loss, and she's constantly driving Marlin crazy! Just keep swimming!

And finally, our special guest..............

D is for......

Ellen DeGeneres!

I thought Ellen would be perfect for this post because she voices Dory! Ellen has to be one of my favorite celebrities (besides Sofia Vergara!), and she is hilarious as Dory. Here's a funny clip of her tv show! Some of the clips on Youtube were a bit inappropriate. I try to keep this blog G-rated as much as possible.

Thursday, April 2, 2015

C is for Chip

Chip is one of my all time favorite Disney characters. He's so cute and funny! My favorite quote is at the end of the film when everyone's human again. Chip asks, "Do I still have to sleep in the cupboard?" Hilarious!

Here are a couple of photos I snapped of Chip during my visit to Disney World in January! We saw a play of "Beauty and the Beast".

I can't end this post without including a video clip of Chip! This is a Youtube clip of the actual play that we saw while at Disney. Also, did I mention that I bought a real-life Chip mug? It looks just like him, but sadly it doesn't talk. :(

B is for Beauty and Beast

It didn't seem right to do a Disney-themed post for B and leave these two characters out! It's kind of funny to have two characters starting with the same name that are a couple!

I'll start out with Belle first. I remind myself of Belle because I am quiet and have some trouble fitting in. I've always had trouble making friends, but when I do make friends, the relationships tend to be really good ones. I'm also an intellectual, just like Belle is. I also love reading!

The Beast is an example that we all need to follow. He teaches us that it's what's on the inside that counts, and not to judge someone when they first meet them.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie:

Monday, March 30, 2015

A is for Ariel and Aurora

I couldn't pick one single character for A, so I had to choose two!

                                         A is for Ariel

I am really similiar to Ariel. Not because I have red hair (mine is brown), but because I can be stubborn and am always determined to do things my way. I'm also similiar to Ariel because I can be reluctant and have a really strong conscience. Ariel's reluctant to go with Flotsam and Jetsam to Ursula's cave, and again when Ursula is trying to get her to sign the contract. I love Ariel because we have a lot of the same personality traits, and I also love belting out the lyrics to "Part of Your World" in the shower (in private, of course!)!

A is for Aurora

A is for Aurora. An interesting fact about 'Sleeping Beauty' is that it's my all-time favorite Disney Movie! Also, did you know that Aurora only has 18 lines of spoken dialogue in the entire film? Also interesting are the facts that Aurora is one of the only princesses with both parents alive, and that Aurora never really meets Maleficient. All the other princesses know their villains. I love Aurora because of her kindness and compassion towards others.

Feature and Follow Friday!

Have you ever been inspired by a book character to do something? Who was the character and what was it?

One of my favorite books of all time is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. It's so inspirational and life-changing. If you haven't read it, you should! It deals with a young man (Mitch) who has a relationship with his former teacher, Morrie, who has ALS. For those of you who don't know, ALS is a terminal disease in which the muscles are gradually paralized.

It just so happens that I have a former substitute teacher from high school who has been diagnosed with ALS. She's not doing so well right now. Because of Mitch, I too have been visiting her at home and keeping in touch with her. It's been really hard to watch her body decline while her mind remains intact.

Please check back on Monday for my A-Z challenge theme reveal!!

You have been WARNED!

It's almost April 1st, which means it's almost time for the A-Z challenge! I'm super excited because I have an all new theme for this year. It's so great that I will be sharing it on March 23. I will say this though: It involves Disney. In the mean time, enjoy this picture of Me and Mickey Mouse!

Question of the Week: Do you have any furry friends? Share a picture!

Unfortunately, no. I had an amazing cat named Winnie who died when I was 12. Unfortunately, for right now, I have to stick with stuffed animals as pets...but real ones are much more fun!

Side note: I am getting ready for the A-Z challenge, which will begin April 1. Please check back to see what my theme is!

Hard print for sure. I need to have something tangible in my hands when I read!

Feature and Follow Friday!

Question of the Week: Do you have any fun collections (other than books)?

Yes. I have a collection of Vera Bradley items and a collection of Disney mugs.

I am hopelessly obsessed with Vera. I usually only shop there when there's a sale, but nonetheless I have accumulated a lot of stuff! I use it every day. My favorite patterns have pinks and purples in them

As for Disney, my collection is small- only two mugs! I hope to grow it little by little. My oldest mug is a minnie mouse mug. It's black with white polka dots and has a big red bow in the center with white polka dots on it. It's absolutely adorable! My other one that I just purchased at Disney World is a real-life version of Chip from Beauty and the Beast! The mug looks exactly like him, except it doesn't talk. :( I think talking objects are more fun...
